Terms of Service

The basics

properOG is a tool for checking, scoring, and generating Open Graph images. It is operated by Kuinka Oy (Business ID 3179414-9), Helsinki, Finland. By using properog.com, you agree to these terms.

Accounts

Some features require a free account via Clerk. You are responsible for your account credentials. One account per person. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service.

Free features

Checking and scoring URLs is free. The gallery is free. These features have rate limits that vary by account tier (anonymous, free, paid). Rate limits are listed on the pricing page.

Paid features

OG image generation is a paid feature. Purchases are one-time payments processed by Stripe. Prices are displayed before checkout.

What you get with a purchase:

• Clean (unwatermarked) OG image as a 1200x630 PNG.
• Implementation code for your framework.
• Commercial license to use the generated image on your site.

You own the rights to use generated images on the site they were created for. You may not resell generated images as a standalone product or use them for sites other than the one specified during generation.

AI generation

AI-generated backgrounds use Google Gemini. Output quality varies. AI generations are limited per account tier. Generated images may not perfectly match your expectations. Preview before you buy.

Refunds

Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase if you have not downloaded the clean (unwatermarked) image. Once downloaded, the sale is final. Contact support@properog.com for refund requests.

URL checking

When you check a URL, properOG fetches that page's publicly accessible HTML and OG meta tags to analyze them. This is equivalent to what social platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Slack) do when generating link previews. Results for public URLs may be stored and displayed on public scorecard pages at /check/[domain].

Do not use the checker for scraping, surveillance, or any automated bulk operation.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• Circumvent rate limits or access controls.
• Use automated tools to bulk-check or bulk-generate.
• Generate images containing illegal, harmful, or deceptive content.
• Reverse-engineer the scoring algorithm or generation pipeline.
• Impersonate another person or brand when generating images.
• Resell access to properOG or its outputs as your own service.

Third-party content and the gallery

The properOG gallery displays Open Graph images created and owned by their respective site operators. These images are publicly served meta tags, designed by their owners to be fetched and displayed by any platform that renders link previews (social networks, chat apps, search engines).

properOG displays these images alongside original editorial commentary, scoring, and design analysis. This constitutes transformative use for the purposes of criticism, commentary, and education about OG image design practices.

properOG does not claim ownership of any third-party OG image. All trademarks, logos, and brand elements visible within OG images remain the property of their respective owners.

We do not modify, alter, or create derivative works from third-party OG images. Images are displayed in their original form as served by the site owner's servers.

Content removal requests

If you are the owner or authorized representative of a site featured in the properOG gallery or on a check page, and you would like your content removed, contact support@properog.com with the domain name and your relationship to it. We will process removal requests within 5 business days.

For DMCA or copyright-related takedown notices, include: (1) the specific content you want removed, (2) proof of ownership or authorization, (3) a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized. Send to support@properog.com.

Intellectual property

The properOG brand, gallery curation, editorial commentary, scoring methodology, and templates are the property of Kuinka Oy.

Generated images: you receive a license to use them on the specified site. The underlying template designs remain the property of Kuinka Oy.

Disclaimer

properOG scores are informational. An A grade does not guarantee perfect rendering on every platform. A D grade does not mean your site is broken. Scores are based on our analysis of OG tag best practices and may not reflect every edge case.

The service is provided "as is" without warranty. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or suitability for any particular purpose.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kuinka Oy's liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific transaction in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted by updating the date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland.
